JONATHAN D. REED

Jonathan Reed, a native of Jonesboro, Tennessee, is a member of the Tennessee and Georgia bars, having been admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Southern and Middle Districts of Georgia in 1988, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee in 1991 and the United States Supreme Court in 1999. He received his undergraduate education at the University of Tennessee (B.A., 1975; B.S.B.A., 1976 was well as his law degree (1987), and was awarded an LLM in Taxation from the College of William and Mary in 1988. He is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association (Member: Executive Committee, Tennessee Young Lawyers Conference, 1991; Fellows of the Tennessee Young Lawyers Conference; Tax Section; Executive Committee, Editor, Tax, Probate and Real Property Newsletter) and the American Bar Association (Member, Tax Section, Estate and Gift Tax Committee; Probate and Real Property Section). He served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy; Designated Naval Aviator, 1978.

Jonathan serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Tennessee, George C. Taylor School of Law and is listed in the Best Lawyers of America in the area of estate planning. His practice areas include Estate Planning; Taxation; Tax-Exempt Entity Formation and Operation; Corporate Law; Business Entity Formation and Operation; and ERISA Litigation.
